The Breeze Factor Releases
New Breeze XML Binder 3.0 for Java
New XML/Java Data-Binding Solution is easy-to-use and easy-to-buy
AUSTIN, TX—JANUARY 8, 2002 — The Breeze Factor (www.breezefactor.com), a company focused on simplifying ebusiness using XML, today announced the immediate availability of its latest data-binding product: Breeze XML Binder version 3.0 for Java.
Breeze XML Binder is the first complete data-binding solution for Java. Breeze allows developers to create Java frameworks from XML structures and process XML documents through object interfaces thereby eliminating extensive and tedious manual coding.
Breeze XML Binder is a significant re-packaging of The Breeze Factor’s popular Breeze XML Studio including new features, new pricing, and new licensing terms. “Our goal with Breeze XML Binder is to make XML processing easy-to-use and much easier-to-buy and deploy,” says David Droman, Business Development Manager at The Breeze Factor.
New Features
Breeze XML Binder 3.0 is a substantial upgrade from the currently shipping Breeze XML Studio version 2.2. Major new features include:
Binding XML Schema to Java
Breeze XML Binder now includes extensive support for the W3C XML Schema Recommendation with code generation and validation for the most commonly used facets and data-types. Breeze now generates frameworks from XML Schema, DTDs, XML document instances, and JDBC connectable databases.
W3C Namespace support
Breeze XML Binder provides complete support for XML Namespaces in a data-binding context. XML Namespaces are supported in all Breeze generated objects, including those generated from both XML Schema and XML DTDs.
W3C DOM interoperability
Many times, developers need to use existing, general-purpose XML tools and components that require W3C DOM (Document Object Model) interfaces to operate. Objects created by Breeze XML Binder now can marshal Breeze objects to DOM instances and vice versa.
Enhanced Marshalling/Unmarshalling performance
Breeze XML Binder is substantially faster at run-time than prior versions of Breeze XML Studio and adds only slight overhead to the underlying SAX 2.0 parser included with the release. With Breeze’s incremental-processing mode, XML documents can be processed one record at a time, eliminating the memory footprint and latency requirements required by the DOM and other technologies when processing large documents.
More Code-Generation Control
With Breeze XML Binder, developers have more control over the Breeze generated code including the ability to reference super-classes and configure collections for use on XML lists.
Automated compilation
Breeze XML Binder now completes the XML code-generation process by optionally compiling the generated classes. This makes it easier for developers to make changes to the XML structure and utilize the affected Breeze classes.
JAXB-like
This release includes compatibility-support for certain features and functions found in the JAXB 0.21 early-access release. Full support for JAXB is planned for future versions of Breeze XML Binder as this important standard is formalized.
"Breeze XML Binder is a mature product that has saved my project months of time and made the resulting code more bullet proof, “ says Farrukh Najmi, Staff Engineer at Sun Microsystems. “We continue to find more places where Breeze can help in our work with XML. I have been very impressed with the quality of Breeze XML Binder … and the overall value of using this technology in our XML work.”
New, Lower, Royalty-Free Pricing
Breeze XML Binder 3.0 for Java is priced at $395 per developer and $595 per developer with one-year annual maintenance. Under the new licensing, developers are free to deploy Breeze generated objects and associated toolkits in all their applications without additional cost. Volume and OEM pricing is available for enterprise customers and technology partners.
Existing licensees of Breeze XML Studio who are on annual maintenance can upgrade to Breeze XML Binder 3.0 free-of-charge. Customers not currently on maintenance can purchase the upgrade for $295.
Breeze XML Binder is available via download directly from The Breeze Factor’s website or through Programmer’s Paradise, Flashline and ProVantage.
“We truly made Breeze better, cheaper, and faster”, says Droman, “now we are making it easier to find, buy, and deploy.”
